Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series

The Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series is Maple Grove Raceway’s bracket program. The Series consists of seven (7) race classes that range from young kids to the most experienced racers and are as followed: Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Top Bike, Pro Dial, Junior Street and Junior Dragster. For a more complete breakdown of the specifics for each class requirement, pleaser refer to our Racer Handbook.

We encourage racers to join our ET Series by signing up for the points earning program at the beginning of the season. This is only encouraged and not required in order to participate in the ET Series events listed on our season schedule. The benefits of joining the points earning program include participation on Team Maple Grove for Bracket Finals and end of the year payouts for track Champions and top finishers. Racers who joined the points program earn points for every ET Series event their participate in based off how many rounds they complete. A full explanation of how many points are awarded for those events can be found in our Racer Handbook. The top racers at the end of the season will be eligible to compete at the Northeast Division Summit ET Bracket Finals. Which is held at a different track each year in the Northeast Division. Maple Grove Raceway will send a team of 35 racers to represent Team Maple Grove for the ET Finals. The four (4) Northeast Division Champions (Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman & Top Bike), will be invited by NHRA to participate at the NHRA Nationals in October at The Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada. They will compete against the champions from NHRA’s six (6) other divisions for a world championship in each respective class.

What are Specialty Programs???

Maple Grove Raceway also offers up specialty programs at select Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series events throughout the season. We also like to call these “Wally Days”, because racers have the chance to win their very own Wally trophy. There are three of these programs total at the moment and we are looking to expand that to four in the near future. The three programs are King of the Track, NHRATV.com Challenge and the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster Challenge. Racers do not need to be signed up for the points earning program in order to be eligible to win a Wally.

King of the Track

The King of the Track is open for racers participating in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Top Bike. The winner of each of those four (4) classes on the day of the program will race each other until only one (1) remains. That remaining racer would be named Maple Grove Raceway’s King (or Queen) of the Track. The winner would receive a Wally trophy and a custom King of the Track hat.

NHRATV.com Challenge

The NHRATV.com Challenge is open for racers participating in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Top Bike. Each winner of those four classes at the end of the day will walk walk away with a custom NHRATV.com Challenge hat and Wally trophy.

Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster Challenge

Junior Dragster and Junior Street winners from the day the Challenge is held will each receive a special NHRA Wally Trophy, a Junior Drag Racing League hat and decals.

Youth Programs

Maple Grove Raceway encourages children and young adults to participate in the sport of drag racing. We offer several programs and events geared toward young racers including the NHRA Youth Program, which includes Junior Street and Junior Dragster competition.

Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series

Junior Dragster and Junior Street racers have points earning races which can be found on our season schedule). Juniors are encouraged to join the bracket program.

What is Junior Street???

A few years ago NHRA introduced the expansion of their youth program for teenagers ranging from 13 to 16 years old. These teens would have the opportunity to race against their peers and learn the basics of drag racing in full-bodied street vehicles with an adult co-driver as their teammate. This encourages teens to combine the safety of driving a vehicle while also developing their skills of racing.

The goal of the Junior Street program was to find an inexpensive program to help meet the demand for teens wanting to drive fast while developing a family bond through drag racing.

Competitors in the NHRA Junior Street program will go through an orientation/ licensing procedure on an eighth-mile dragstrip in their vehicles. Which must meet the program requirements. Approved vehicles must be registered, insured, street legal vehicles with mufflers, street tires and limited to nine (9) seconds and slower.

What is a Junior Dragster???

The NHRA Summit Racing Junior Drag Racing League offers kids ages 5-17 a chance to race a half-scale dragsters in a controlled environment at many of NHRA member tracks throughout the United States and Canada. They can start racing a junior dragster long before they are able to obtain a state driver’s license. Membership in the Junior Drag Racing League is required for competition.

These half-scale dragsters are named such given they resemble half of a top fuel dragster. Using a five-horsepower, single-cylinder engine, a Junior Dragster can go as fast as 85 miles per hour and as quick as 7.90 seconds in the eighth-mile. Keep in mind the younger the racer, the slower times and speeds they are restricted to.

Many of the NHRA member tracks offer weekly Jr. Drag Racing League programs including Maple Grove Raceway. These programs allow kids to race by earning points toward a track championship. The points leaders are also chosen to represent their track at the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Leagues Eastern or Western Conference Finals, depending on location of home track.

In the Northeast Division (which is the division Maple Grove Raceway is based in) also, has a divisional race each year held at one of the Northeast Division Tracks. The Junior Drag Racing League Northeast Divisional is open for both Junior Dragster and Junior Street racers. Maple Grove Raceway has the ability to send as many Junior racers as wish to attend the event each year and represent Team Maple Grove. However, only one (1) team of ten (10) have the ability to earn points toward Team Maple Grove. No matter if a racer is earning points or not, being able to have a Junior gain experience racing by competing against hundreds of other Juniors their age. The Northeast Divisional is broken down to four (4) Junior Dragster age categories and one (1) Junior Street category. The Junior Dragster categories are 6-9 years, 10-12 years, 13-14 years and 15-17 years old. In an effort to keep up the friendly and fun nature of drag racing, Teams also have the chance to win Team Championship and Team Spirit trophies.
