Andy Anderson might just be ready to challenge Brock Moshier in the Ciccarone Race Products Pro E.T. Class. The only question is if the York, Pa. racer has enough time to catch him.
Anderson and his 1971 Dart won Sunday’s Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail event at Maple Grove Raceway, his second trip to PPC Lubricants Victory Lane in 2013.
In the final, he beat Brian Hine (Birdsboro, Pa.) with a pass of 10.011 seconds at 125.46 mph that was .011 over his dial in, while Hine broke out by .03. Anderson had a tough assignment in the semifinals against Paul Thimm Jr. (Mohnton, Pa.) and prevailed when Thimm broke out. Anderson kept it close by going .014 over his dial. Anderson also cut it close in the quarters against Jeremy Kleinfelter (Newmanstown, Pa.), going .010 over.
Hine beat David Sciarretta (Honey Brook, Pa.) in the semis by using a great reaction time and going .002 over, and advanced from the quarters when Jeneane Cloer (Telford, Pa.) fouled. More >
There’s no doubt that Brock Moshier and his 1971 Vega have had an excellent 2013 season at Maple Grove Raceway.
He’s won three times this season in Ciccarone Racing Products Pro E.T. Class on the Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail. He leads the season points race with 428 with second-place Marty Flegal at 363.
MGR vice president/general manager Lex Dudas is offering a $200 bounty to the driver who eliminates Moshier during Saturday’s Money Trail Pro E.T. eliminations.
Gates open on Saturday at 9 a.m. with time trials at 10 and eliminations to follow.
Throughout the day Saturday and well into the evening, it seemed nothing could stop Fredy Scriba’s well-tuned Pro Mod Corvette.
Taking part in the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod race in the Rumble at The Grove presented by Penske Truck Leasing, Scriba kept getting faster and faster every time he made a run during qualifying and eliminations.
However, Gary Courtier and his ’68 Camaro had other plans. In a final that took the breath away from everyone in attendance, the Manorville, N.Y.-based racer put a roadblock in Scriba’s path to PPC Lubricants Victory Lane. He won with a blazing pass of 6.101 seconds at 232.75 mph.
That final capped a long day as fans were treated a wide variety of racing classes, a feature of the Rumble. There were Pro E.T. cars racing for a $1,200 first prize, the Boninfante B1 Index Series, NHRA Top Sportsman, and an Import race serving as a preview for the popular Latin American Sports Compacts II event on Sept. 7-8.
