Dutch Classic canceled

Due to the heavy rains from the nor’easter soaking Southeastern Pennsylvania, the 42nd annual P.C. Richard & Son Pennsylvania Dutch Classic presented by Penske Truck Leasing has been canceled.

Maple Grove Raceway and the NHRA Northeast Division made the decision Friday morning as the wet weather was soaking the grounds and creating flash flood conditions.

There will be no rain date as Maple Grove’s schedule is full through October and the first week of November.

“We love this race and we didn’t like to do this,” said MGR vice president/general manager Lex Dudas. “We have held ‘The Dutch’ for over four decades and we appreciate the racers and fans who have supported it over the years. We look forward to seeing everybody back here in 2014.”

Racing will resume on Saturday, Oct. 19 with the 10K Footbrake Nationals.

Rain washes out Thursday’s round of The Dutch

The rainy weather that has saturated Southeastern Pennsylvania forced Maple Grove Raceway and the NHRA Northeast Division to pull the plug on Thursday’s round of the P.C. Richard & Son Pennsylvania Dutch Classic presented by Penske Truck Leasing.

Washed out were time trials for Stock, Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Stock and Super Gas classes; and qualifying for Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp. All classes are scheduled to begin time trials and qualifying on Friday.

Parking and tech remained open through the day.

Gates open Friday at 8 a.m. with time trials beginning at 9:30.

Dutch Classic returns

Fans of NHRA Sportsman drag racing will get one more chance to catch the action on the track in 2013 as the P.C. Richard & Son Pennsylvania Dutch Classic presented by Penske Truck Leasing comes to Maple Grove Raceway Thursday through Sunday, Oct. 10-13.
