The Manufacturers Series, which is comprised of the Super Chevy Show, Fun Ford Weekend and Mega Mopar Action automotive events is geared up for the 2014 season with the release of the new 33 event-schedule that includes the dates for the newest host track to join the tour, U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.
All three branded Series tours will make a stop at the “Fastest Track in Michigan,” giving Chevrolet, Ford and Mopar fans in the Great Lakes region a place to see the finest show cars and fastest drag cars in the area compete for an historic first-place win during the 2014 stops in Martin, Mich.
“We are excited to have U.S. 131 Motorsports Park join the Manufacturers Series events for our Chevy, Ford and Mopar fans in Michigan to showcase Detroit iron and competition of the American brands,” said Lex Dudas, Manufacturers Series president.
The Super Chevy Show presented by Chevrolet Performance will include 12 events in 2014 beginning in Jupiter, Fla. at Palm Beach International Raceway with a new date of April 4-6, and ending at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas October 11-12. Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas will be returning to a two-day Saturday-Sunday event May 17-18, 2014 and will share a weekend doubleheader with Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Va.
Royal Purple Raceway will host the first of 12 Blue Oval Fun Ford Weekend dates for the 2014 season on March 29, with U.S. 131 Motorsports Park kicking off mid-season as the sixth event on July 13. Texas Motorplex will host the final event for 2014 on November 8, with a later date to beat the Texas heat.
Texas Motorplex will kick-off the 9 event Mega Mopar Action Series March 29, while Mopar Action Magazine welcomes U.S. 131 Motorsports Park to its namesake Series May 15. Virginia Motorsports Park and Palm Beach International Raceway will share a weekend in September as the first doubleheader for the Series on the September 20-21, weekend with Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. wrapping up the season Oct. 4-5, 2014.
Maple Grove Raceway will host the series on the following dates: Mega Mopar (June 21), Super Chevy (July 11-13) and Fun Ford (Sept. 13). More >
The Berks County Mustang Car Club had some more car show winners Sunday during Fun Ford Weekend.
It was a short list as everything that day was cut short because of rain.
- Best of Show: Bob Mess, ’73 Mach 1
- Best High School Car: Randy Glahn, ’00 Mustang
- Best Engine: Tom Mee, ’01 Mustang
- Best Paint: John Risola, ’98 Mustang GT
- Diamond in the Rough: Richard Balthaser, ’83 Capri RS
- MCA Award: Bill Colosimo, ’68 Shelby
- Berks County Car: Charlie Trexler, ’01 Roush.
Saturday’s portion of Fun Ford Weekend at Maple Grove Raceway was billed as “Fords vs. The World.”
All makes and models were welcome to race The Grove’s quartermile track as fans of Fords, along with Chevys and Mopars, kept track of which cars were still standing as racers made their way through the elimination brackets of three different mixed classes.
There was also special Ford only classes, including Mustang Madness, Tough Truck, VMP Superchargers True Street Shootout and the Aeromotive Cobra Jet Challenge.
Also, several dozen cars took part in a car show hosted by the Berks County Mustang Car Club and there was a swap meet. The Jersey Thunder Jet Dragster entertained fans.

Roy Hill had the low ET for Aeromotive Cobra Jet Challenge qualifying Saturday at Maple Grove Raceway. His time of 8.306 at 166.25 mph gave him the top seed for Sunday’s eliminations.

When he arrives at Fun Ford Weekend at Maple Grove Raceway, Roy Hill will be kicking off a very busy stretch in his 2013 schedule.
“Starting at Maple Grove, we have 17 straight weeks on the road,” said the racing veteran, who will also be conducting his driving school at The Grove.
Stops during that period will include Norwalk, Indianapolis, Bristol and Charlotte.
“It’s one race right after another,” he said. “We have some match races booked, too.”
Hill, who helped usher in the return of the Fun Ford Weekend at Maple Grove in 2012, will be back again to judge the car show and race in his Cobra Jet. More >
