Dozens of Maple Grove Raceway’s best racers crowded the ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Reading Hotel Saturday night for the 51st annual Money Trail Awards Banquet.
Over $30,000 in cash, trophies and contingency awards was handed out during the ceremony to the top 48 drivers in the five Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail E.T. Series, Jr. Dragsters and the ATI Stock-Super Stock Shootout.
Dozens of racers, whether or not they were in the money, were on hand with friends and family. It’s a great tradition that Maple Grove management is looking to continue far into the future.
The season champions for the Money Trail Series had their turn in the spotlight as Lanny Werley (Gold Rush Trailers Super), Brock Moshier (Ciccarone Racing Products Pro), Paul Werner (P.C. Richard & Son Street), Cory Stuebner (Ray’s Yamaha Top Bike), Vincent Branca (Jr. Dragster) and Lee Risser (ATI Stock-Super Stock) were recognized in their respective classes. More >
Despite three hours of hard work on the track that lasted into Saturday evening, the season finale of the Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trails E.T. Series was stopped in the middle of the first round of eliminations.
Because one round wasn’t completed for all classes (with the exception of Jr. Dragsters), the points coming into the day turned out to be the final standings.
The following racers have clinched points championships and will be recognized at the Money Trail Banquet scheduled for February 2014:
- Goldrush Trailers Super: Lanny Werley
- Ciccarone Racing Products Pro: Brock Moshier
- P.C. Richard & Son Street: Paul Werner
- Ray’s Yamaha Top Bike: Cory Stuebner
- Jr. Dragsters: Vincent Branca.
The Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail, which features the best of regional drag racing, will conclude its 2013 season Saturday with the season finale at Maple Grove Raceway.
There will also be a special feature at the end of the race to crown the new King of the Track. On Sunday, the future of drag racing will be in the spotlight with the Junior Dragster Challenge. More >
Joe Stuebner gets his first victory of the season.
Over the years, PPC Lubricants Victory was a familiar place for Joe Stuebner.
The motorcycle rider from Hamburg, Pa., has also won a handful of season titles in the Ray’s Yamaha Top Bike class on the Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail E.T. Series.
In 2013, he’s made his share of appearances, cheering the four Top Bike victories by Cory Stuebner, his son and competitor.
In Sunday’s Money Trail race, it was finally Joe’s turn for some glory. More >
Saturday’s round of the Money Trail was also run under hot and sticky conditions. However, the talk of the pits was the $200 bounty MGR vice president/general manager Lex Dudas placed on Ciccarone Racing Products Pro E.T. points leader Brock Moshier.
Moshier (Lititz, Pa.) has been winning race after race and is running away with the points lead. To shake things up a bit, Dudas offered the reward to anyone who eliminated Moshier and his ’71 Vega in eliminations.
Kyle Harrell (Lansdale, Pa.) got the money in the semifinals when Moshier fouled at the start. It was a good day for Moshier, who had two opponents get red lights against him and then beat seasoned drivers Erin Thimm (Mohnton, Pa.) and Andy Anderson (York, Pa.).
However, Harrell couldn’t continue his good fortune in the final. Dan Smith (Morgantown, Pa.) won the afternoon in his ’89 Beretta when Harrell fouled. More >
