Sassaman, Boyer and Pyles score back-to-back wins; Werner victorious twice on Sunday
Maple Grove Raceway hosted two consecutive Sunoco Race Fuels Money Trail bracket racing series events over the Independence Day weekend. The weekend also featured a doubleheader for the ATI Stock/Super Stock Challenge.
SATURDAY, JULY 5:
Saturday winners included: Gary Sassaman (Gold Rush Trailers Super Pro), Dennis Kessler (Ciccarone Racing Products Pro), Dave Raser (P.C. Richard & Son Street), Danny Boyer (Ray’s Yamaha Top Bike), Elizabeth Pyles (U.T.I. Jr. Dragster), Hunter Zajac (NHRA Jr. Street) and Gary Simpers (ATI Stock/Super Stock), Greg Dengler (Trophy).
Simpers, of North East, Maryland, won the ATI Stock/Super Stock final over Frank Ferrucci of Paterson, N.J., 10.646 sec./116.86 mph to 11.518 sec./112.09 mph. To reach the final round of eliminations in the 32-car field, Simpers defeated Jonathon Allegrucci of Mayfield, Pa., in the semi-final. Ferrucci defeated Mike Epprecht of Harleysville, Pa., in his half of the semi-final round.
Sassaman, of Collegeville, Pa., defeated Dave Petrofske of Lititz, Pa., in the Gold Rush Trailers Super Pro final, 7.541 sec./174.26 mph to 7.109 sec./187.73 mph.
Danny Boyer of York, Pa., won the Ray’s Yamaha Top Bike finale over opponent Bruce Gockley of Mohnton, Pa.
Dave Raser of Oxford, Pa., topped the 51-car P.C. Richard & Son Street final by defeating Lonny Horst of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa.
The final round of U.T.I. Jr. Dragster eliminations saw Elizabeth Pyles of East Prospect, Pa., defeat Hollie Ray-Bausher of Shillington, Pa.
Brock Moshier raced through a 69-car field in the Ciccarone Racing Products Pro class. Moshier, of Lititz, Pa., defeated Mark Ketterer of Sellersville, Pa., in the final.
Hunter Zajac of Manheim, Pa., won the NHRA Jr. Street final over Robert Weidenhammer of Reading, Pa.

Sassaman, of Collegeville, Pa., won for the second time this weekend, this time by defeating Martin Flegal in the final round of Super Pro eliminations.
Mark Petitdemange of Oxford, Pa., drove his 1982 Camaro to victory in the ATI Stock/Super Stock final over David Barton of Robesonia, Pa., 9.639 sec./129.83 mph (with a .007 reaction time) to 9.825 sec./130.15.
Paul Werner of Sinking Spring, Pa., held the winning hand on Sunday, first topping the 53-car Street final over Elise Renninger of Leesport, Pa. He then repeated the feat in the 75-car Pro category. Werner defeated John Binkle of Mount Joy, Pa., to score his second win of the day.
Danny Boyer of York, Pa., rode his Kawasaki to victory twice over the weekend. On Sunday he defeated Austin Youndt of Stevens, Pa., for top honors in the Top Bike class.
Elizabeth Pyles of East Prospect, Pa., faced Nicholas Bealer of Douglassville, Pa., in the U.T.I. Jr. Dragster final. Pyles went on to win her second Jr. Dragster title of the weekend, moving her from fifth to third in the point standings.
Anna Smith of Coatsville, Pa., won the Trophy class over opponent Charles Augustine of Kutztown, Pa.
Robert Weidenhammer Jr., of Reading, Pa., won his second NHRA Jr. Street final of the season.
