Rain brings Footbrake to a halt
Despite the best efforts of the Maple Grove track crew, Mother Nature decided to be a pest for a second consecutive weekend.
The 10K Footbrake Nationals was mostly completed Saturday night. However, after four weather delays, heavy rains arriving at 8:15 p.m. were just too much. Even if it was a short rainfall, track drying efforts would’ve brought racing right up against curfew.
The 12 remaining drivers agreed to split the purse — with the $10,000 first prize, the $2,000 runner-up prize and the remaining round money — and still took home a pretty good payday.
Maple Grove will have two big events next weekend. Saturday is the annual fall automotive flea market and the Sunday is the Ghosts and Goblins at The Grove bracket race.
