Caleb Holley, representing Maple Grove Raceway, finished second in the 13-year-old age group as the NHRA Jr. Dragster Eastern Conference Finals was completed Saturday night at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, Tenn.

Holley, from Carlisle, Pa., was one of four Team Maple Grove racers to make it to at least the quarterfinal round. Quarterfinalists included Kelsey Brinckman (Boyertown, Pa.) in the 10-year-old category, Mark Price Jr. (Collegeville, Pa.) in the 11s and Emily Zartman (Pottstown, Pa.) in the 16-17s.

In his quarterfinal run, Holley defeated Dylan Howard (Corryton, Tenn.) with an eighth-mile pass of 7.945 seconds that was .045 over his dial-in. A .038 reaction time advantage off the starting line helped eradicate Howard’s time of 7.994.

Holley then made the final when he used a .006 RT to defeat Taylor Cook (Mason, Ohio). He was .031 over his dial, making the pass in 7.931.

In a competitive final, John Croce (East Rockaway, N.Y.) took the championship with a pass of 7.913 that was .003 over, while Holley was .019 over his 7.90 dial.

Brinckman fell in the quarterfinals to Brady Petrovich (Belle Chasse, La.) as Petrovich had a better reaction time and made it stand by going .088 over the dial.

Price fouled at the start in his quarterfinal race, giving the win to Alec Harper (Meansville, Ga.), who went on to win the class.

Zartman, a semifinalist last year, was stopped by eventual champion Shelby Dilorio (Burlington, N.J.).  Zartman was .032 over her dial of 7.90, but Dilorio had a better reaction time.
