If you were a regular at Maple Grove Raceway during the 1970s, chances are very good that you saw the Blue Max, driven by Raymond Beadle, go down the track against some of the biggest legends of the day.

Naturally, the restored Blue Max is a natural pick to take part in the Geezers Reunion at The Grove on Aug. 2-3.

For those of you who can’t wait until the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals in October to get a whiff of nitro, here’s your chance! Qualifying for the Mickey Thompson Tire Dragracingonline.com AA/FC Challenge will be Friday night, Aug. 2, with two rounds. It’s also a good, old-fashioned Fox Hunt that evening with all women admitted free.

The eliminations will be Saturday evening, Aug. 3, with the big show starting at 6 p.m. sharp.

Beadle, a member of the Maple Grove Raceway Walk of Fame, raced the Blue Max Funny Car at Maple Grove and was a crowd favorite. He won major Funny Car events through the 70s and was a standout competitor going against some of the legends of the day.
