Sunday, April 23rd

This Sunday is the Summit Racing Equipment High School Challenge and Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series Race No. 1. Gates open at 8AM and racing starts at 9AM. Racer entry fees and spectator prices are listed below.

Summit Racing Equipment High School Challenge

Changes have been made to the High School Challenge from previous years. Most notably the addition of Summit Racing Equipment in sponsoring the event along with the Junior Dragster and Junior Street classes in the ET Series. Another change for 2017 is that only one high school class is being run during the Challenge. There is no alumni category for this year. However, those who usually enter the alumni class can enter the Trophy class instead.
One major element that has not changed for the High School Challenge is how important a winner is to Team Maple Grove. The winner of the 2017 High School Challenge represents Team Maple Grove at the Northeast Division Summit ET Bracket Finals at Numidia Dragway September 14-17, 2017.

Important Points to Remember:

  • The Summit Racing Equipment High School Challenge event would be rescheduled to a later date if necessary due to rain. Since the winner of the High School Challenge class would go on to represent Team Maple Grove at the 2017 ET Bracket Finals later this year.
  • Any racer 17 years of age or younger must have their parent(s) and/or guardian(s) complete the Minor Release Form.
  • Racers wishing to enter the High School Challenge need to present a valid high school ID at the gate in order to race.

Maple Grove Raceway will again offer the “Family, Friends and Neighbors” plan where anyone can enter the pit area after 1P for a super price of $5.00 for each person in the vehicle and children 12 and under are free! The program, initiated in 2015 was a great success and officials wanted to keep the program growing for 2017.

Junior Dragster Racers

Many of you remember the toolbox that Joe and Cory Stuebner graciously donated to the junior dragster winner of the first Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series race last year. Well Joe and Cory wanted to again put together a toolbox and tools giveaway to another lucky junior in 2017.
Similar to last year, the toolbox stocked with tools will be awarded to the junior dragster competitor who wins this Sunday, April 23rd.
This giveaway is a collaborative effort from a few generous gentlemen who understand the importance of juniors to drag racing.
The Stuebner’s contacted Gary Snyderman from their local Snap On to inquire about donating to this giveaway. Mr. Snyderman agreed to donate a tool cart. Not only are Joe and Cory purchasing the tools to stock the tool cart, they wanted to take the giveaway one step further.
To raise the stakes for the winner of the giveaway, Cory and Joe added a clause to the deal. If Cory or Joe win any money the first Sunoco Race Fuels ET Series race, they will sign over their check or checks (since both of them are racing) to the junior dragster winner. If both Joe and Cory make it to the finals, the junior dragster winner receives both checks in addition to the toolbox with tools.
